The Ongoing Big Move!

I have been slowly moving my jewelry from my Etsy shop to my Handmade Artists' Shop. At least for me (and it seems many others), Etsy hasn't been so great lately for selling. Especially jewelry. The site is so saturated with resellers who offer things so cheap it's hard to compete. They also have a mass amount of vintage and commercial stuff. I don't have anything against this stuff, but on a site that is supposed to be for handmade, it's getting harder and harder to find it. I personally think that Etsy needs to break up into separate venues for these major categories. Fixes aren't working properly and the forum is now a bunch of "teams" that you have to join in order to comment. That is NOT a forum, it's a club. Suffice it to say that I am not happy there anymore.
I listed this set last night in my new HAFshop. It was not in my Etsy shop. My views have been phenomenal already and that makes me happy.
Many of the pieces that I have moved from my Etsy shop to my HAFshop have had similar results as far as big view numbers in a short period of time. It took a year or more to get the same results on Etsy. The reason for this is that HAFshop admin promote this site heavily everywhere. All new listings hit the front page and are promoted everywhere. If for some reason you have an issue with something, they are there to help you quickly. Yes, real people! I can't say enough good things about this site. It's very affordable and once you list, you're done. No relisting! No hidden fees! Handmade ONLY! There is no bulk listing on purpose. That way no one person or shop will overwhelm the front page with their product and the chances of a reseller slipping in and bulk listing is next to none.
What it boils down to is, if you're not happy with where you are and you have handmade, give the HAFshops a try. I am confident that you will be as happy with them as I am.

I'm gonna keep my eye on your progress on the new site. I may be right behind you! :-( It's been tough getting seen on Etsy lately.

Thanks for the write up Teresa, we work very hard. Etsy has forgotten why they have a successful site, in other words they have forgotten the artists.

Hi Teresa:

I enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful jewelry at your HAS shop. I even got to see some of your husband's work, which is elegant and sophisticated.

I am going to share your post with my Craftsu friends. Some of them ask about Etsy and I have heard about so much disappointment and unhappiness there.

I agree that handmade and reselling just does not mix. It's like placing a Walmart at the end of a street of small town shops.

But anyway I'll be checking at your HAS shop from now on and will be in touch.

Much success to you at HAS,
Sandi

Teresa here is link to my Craftsu blog post where I share this post: http://www.craftsu.com/profiles/blogs/etsy-still-losing-handmade-sellers .

You feature some nice stuff here from other crafters. Thanks, I like my blog evolution too. Much of my inspiration came from yours. :-)
